Welcome! As an Equipment Development Engineer in the Technology Development department at Micron, you will be responsible for developing innovative Metrology and Inspection equipment and techniques to measure key process metrics and source in-line defect issues. The goal of this position is to accelerate cycles of learning by developing innovative solutions for detecting in-line yield and process limiting issues. We need engineers who are passionate about learning new equipment and processes to help detect problems early and stive to make changes for the better. This position will provide the opportunity for you to collaborate with engineers in process integration, process development, data science, metrology, RDA, and yield analysis within and outside Technology Development. Your ideas will have the ability to impact the team globally. You will be responsible for evaluations of new equipment, installation planning, recipe writing, and collaboration with Micron and vendor teams to drive metrology and inspection roadmaps.

  • We need someone who will investigate process anomalies, root cause analysis, data manipulation, and correlations.

  • We desire someone with an engineering or related degree with a minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in a 300mm semiconductor environment.

  • Ideal candidates will have a proven knowledge of semiconductor optical and electron beam inspection methods and technologies.

  • Deep understanding of optical based metrology and its application to NAND/DRAM metrology cases.

  • Strong digital literacy, including MS Office, JMP, and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C, C++.

In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Encourage a safe work environment.

  • Creation of metrology and inspection solutions for analyzing experimental process flows looking for defect anomalies and process signatures for characterizing and monitoring of unit processes and modules.

  • Strive for a continuous improvement process (CIP) demeanor, looking for ways to improve operations, equipment performance, and how to make a difference today!

  • Develop metrology and inspection technology roadmaps to drive our internal and external partners enabling a clear path to future advanced memory needs.

  • Recognize, identify, and raise awareness of equipment and process anomalies with the motivation of "who needs to know this now!"

  • Build and improve upon techniques and identify new ways to use existing tools to identify relevant process issues.

  • We expect active participation in technical meetings and then synthesize from them new opportunities or novel approaches.

  • Collaborate with the global network to develop best known methods and maintain alignment between sites.

  • Transfer of recipes and techniques to TD process partners for process development.

Education

  • MS/PhD in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related fields or BS + 5 years of consistent track record in the semiconductor field
