Equipment Technicians are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment in their assigned area, while working in partnership with Shift Operations team members, area equipment engineers and tool vendors. Equipment Technicians monitor tool performance, schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to repair equipment issues.

Technical Skills:

  • Accurately read and interpret verbal and written instructions to improve area efficiency

  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal direction

  • Ability to recognize performance gaps and identify steps to improve

  • Ability to solve basic problems and identify and resolve root causes

  • Ability to work in the cleanroom environment, including wearing PPE during required tasks.

  • Knowledge of statistics, Algebra, and English coursework

  • Understanding of SPC principles, able to recognize when results are statistically outside prior grouping

  • Mechanical skill with the ability to understand and troubleshoot mechanical systems

  • Understanding of physics, chemistry, and algebraic concepts

  • Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (o-scopes, multi meters, torque wrench, DMMs)

  • Analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to efficiently organize tasks

  • Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, including: fundamentals of electricity, and basic electronic components and circuits

  • Use of schematic diagrams to troubleshoot systems to components level

  • Use of common hand tools

  • Flexible with job responsibilities and shift assignments

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and work with arms raised above head

  • Ability to lift 25 - 40 lbs regularly

  • Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces

  • Ability to perform tasks while bending, crouching or kneeling

  • Ability to report to site as scheduled

  • Ability to see and respond to potentially dangerous situations

  • Ability to wear personal protective gear

  • Ability to work with various gases and chemicals used for production processes and maintenance

  • Hand-eye coordination and ability to operate specialized tools for equipment maintenance

  • Light assembly with hand-held tools weighing less than 3 lbs

  • Sustained Sitting or Standing (up to 10 hours a shift)

  • Walking (1 - 5 miles per shift)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the process flow related to area equipment

  • Understanding of the Fab process areas including area processing equipment

  • Vacuum system knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot may be required in some areas

  • Familiarity with lock out, tag out procedures

  • Ability to solve issues related to process flows

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2 year Associates Degree OR related certificate(s) OR relevant experience, including military training

  • Technical hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience with industrial scale electromechanical systems and subsystems

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and engineering sketches
