Job Summary and Description:

Micron Boise Facilities is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineering Lead to support the advancement and continual development of the Boise site campus and for Fab tool designs. A Chemical Engineer Lead will be providing technical review and direction on project chemical designs proposed by non-sustaining A&E firms during project concept and detailed design phases, work with site groups, other engineering teams, contractors, safety, and other project collaborators, for both tool install and site projects.

The Facilities Chemical Engineer Lead at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for working in a team environment with other engineering subject areas to provide high quality engineering services for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of site chemical systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Safety & Quality:

  • Finishes the required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies

  • Stops work for safety if unsafe conditions and/or behaviors are identified

  • Applies and reviews job hazard analysis (JHA/JSA) for work being performed

  • Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws including PPE, CoHe (lockout /tagout) and chemical safety

  • Follows-up on safety and quality related issues immediately and works towards resolution with partners

  • Actively participates in the EHS program by reporting all EHS-related concerns or problems immediately (maximum 24 hours)

  • Performs and facilitates audits and submits good catches

  • Proactively sees opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel health and/or the environment

  • Follows proper practices to ensure safety and quality expectations are met

  • Drives quality improvement initiatives in their area to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savings

  • Ensures area-specific procedures and documents exist and submits updates to content when needed

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with areas leaders to create personal performance and development goals

  • Partners with area leaders and collaborators to capture input for area improvement

  • Communicates changes made to equipment and follows business rules for change control

  • Partners in data collection, gap analysis, and improvement implementation

  • Proactively communicates issues that could cause Fab impact, defects, tool restrictions, or lost moves

  • Coordinates with partners and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates

  • Broadens cross-disciplinary knowledge through new assignments

  • Listens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides feedback for technical innovation

Project Management/Planning:

  • Uses a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and lead projects

  • Leads projects to ensure work is completed within the required scope, schedule and budget

  • Supervises actions and provides critical issue path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time

  • Defines and leads sophisticated, multi-disciplinary projects of critical importance to Micron

  • Provides support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval

  • Reviews design packages

  • Collaborates with Procurement, Manufacturing and appropriate partners on new system equipment purchases

Technical/Data Analysis:

  • Analyzes systems data to make critical decisions, improve performance, gain efficiency, and drive cost savings

  • Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution

  • Provides support for complex problems and addresses root cause

  • Performs problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies

  • Supports risk and/or failure mode and effects analysis

  • Eliminates single points of failure and mitigates risk

  • Provides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sites

  • Provides engineering support to ensure Micron compliance with all applicable laws and codes

  • Identifies and develops a strategy for equipment/processes that streamlines PM frequencies and effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Excellent multi-tasking, time-management, organization and prioritization skills

  • Strong leadership skills with the shown ability to coordinate efforts across a variety of groups

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and efficiently facilitate meetings and project teams

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong understanding of data extraction, data analysis and reporting methodologies

  • Strong understanding of the manufacturing process areas, process flow and main utility systems related to area equipment.

Education and Experience:

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field experience.

  • Five or more years of experience in industrial or semiconductor facilities, with at least 3 years leading a team and providing quality oversight of construction drawings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Eight or more years of experience in industrial or semiconductor facilities.

  • Professional Engineer licensed in Idaho
